On Love and Marriage: Mrs Alabi's Story (#LearnASkillChallenge)

Have you ever had a Church Mummy - an older woman from Church is who very interested in your affairs and progress? If you don't, I pray you get to experience one, a great one for that matter as I am blessed to.  Mrs Alabi is one of my Church Mummies, who looks out for my best interest and never fails to encourage me. I appreciate you Ma , God bless you. See this outfit below? She made and gifted it to me 😀❤️😘 As a certified Church Mummy, you know she constantly asks about my marriage plans 😆. Not in a condescending way though, she does with so much love, care, and compassion, encouraging me to trust God and He'll sort me out. She shares a lot with me about lessons from her life and after one of such chats, I told her I'll blog about her story. I wrote down what I recalled and gave her the draft; she okayed it but declined to have her photo put up lol. I told her I'll go to a photo studio then and take a good shot with the dress she made me, then use it in

This taught me how to manage money at a tender age. There’s a way you become careful with the money you earn through hard work you know; it’s actually different from the way you spend moneh you got freely. Right from my first year at University, I sewed jackets and tops for sale and also bought handmade shoes from Jos (Plateau State) and sold them here in Maiduguri (Borno State). In 2014, I went to fashion school, learned sewing and have been doing that till date. I am now a fashion entrepreneur, with people working for me. Advice for Youths: I believe as energetic youths (of course we are not lazy lol), we should

Let's Learn a Skill 2018 Challenge (#LearnASkillChallenge)

Learning at least a new skill was one of my personal development goals last year. Things didn't work out as I thought, so I carried the goal on to this year and made sure I budgeted for it (time and money). First things first, What is a Skill? For this post's purposes, the following meaning suffices: "A craft, trade, or job requiring manual dexterity or special training in which a person has competence and experience:   the skill of cabinet making." Dictionary.com App It's amazing when you set your heart to improve yourself, how God brings various opportunities your way for realisation, in ways unimaginable. I cite some examples: #1:  Stoned this dress myself 👆😉, using an iron, a piece of fabric, some water and the dress. How I learned to : A few years ago, I went home for Christmas with an Ankara dress that my tailor recently sewed, and I expressed to my sister and cousin how I'd like a bit more bling on it 😁. My cousin told m

Health Post: Chronic Kidney Disease

About Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD): I didn't know about the existence of CKD until a loved one (who eventually passed on) was diagnosed with it.  As I read about it online, I had a flood of emotions from " oh, if I had known ", to the medical negligence on the part of the medical staff, to the ignorance of the patient etc. When all's said and done, we learn from our mistakes and within the best of our ability, educate others on how not to be casualties too; this is the reason for this post.  Writing this was a struggle though; I opened several tabs trying to put pieces together but it seemed like I wanted to write an academic journal, so I calmed a bit lol. I couldn't get myself to type and sat still, thinking, trying to hold myself for hours. Mustered some courage by God's grace and consulted the disease's  NHS UK and NIH web pages for simpler information, from which the bulk of what follows is referenced from: Some Background The Kid
